Course guide · Ozentya Method
Locs are a style of their own, built over months and years. To start and maintain them as a service you need precise skills; to advise well you also need to understand what happens at the root. Here is how to find your way among locs courses.

In short
A serious locs course covers two things: technique (crochet, interlocking, starter twists or coils, retwisting the roots, repairs) and maintenance (washing, drying, moisture, root tension). The basics and the method can be learned online; the hands-on skills are then refined through practice. The Ozentya Method is adding a full module dedicated to locs.
The Ozentya Method teaches a cosmetic approach to hair consultation. It is not a state diploma and does not replace a hairdressing qualification or the advice of a doctor or dermatologist. The course is taught in French.
Starting: two-strand twists, coils, comb coils or crochet, choosing section size and layout, and guidance for the starter locs phase. Root maintenance: palm rolling, interlocking or crochet, and how often; retwisting too tightly or too often weakens the root. Repairs: consolidating weak, broken or splitting locs without pulling on the scalp.
Under locs the scalp must stay clean and free of residue. A shampoo that rinses out well, drying to the core and light products prevent build-up and odours. Our locs care guide details the routine to pass on to your clients.
Ask for the detailed syllabus, the real practice time (on a mannequin head or a model), the number of trainees per trainer and the techniques covered. Look at the trainer's recent work. In France, starting and maintaining locs as a paid service is hairdressing, a regulated trade; check the qualification required where you work.
The Ozentya Method online course already teaches the basics you need to advise people with locs: understanding afro hair and the scalp, spotting damaging habits, building a routine and follow-up. A full module dedicated to locs is coming; with lifetime access and updates, enrolled students will get it. The course is taught in French.
Ozentya has a dedicated locs range: Locs Expert Shampoo, Locs Spray, Locs Oil and Locs Gel.

You can learn the theory online, but starting and retwisting are best learned through practice with a trainer who corrects you live.
A full module dedicated to locs is being added to the course. It will be included for enrolled students through lifetime access and updates.
Usually every 4 to 8 weeks depending on growth and technique; retwisting too often weakens the root.
