Learning to care for your own afro hair

Many women and men with afro hair have a shelf full of products and the feeling that nothing really works. The problem is rarely one product: it is often a routine built at random from tips and trends. Learning for yourself is how you take back control.

In short

Learning to care for afro hair means understanding a few notions (texture, porosity, elasticity, scalp condition), spotting the habits that weaken your hair and building a simple routine you can keep. You then buy fewer products, each chosen for a specific need.

The Ozentya Method teaches a cosmetic approach to hair consultation. It is not a state diploma and does not replace a hairdressing qualification or the advice of a doctor or dermatologist. The course is taught in French.

The notions that change everything

Porosity tells you how easily hair absorbs and holds water. The protein and moisture balance: soft, over-stretchy hair often lacks protein, rough, brittle hair often lacks moisture. The scalp is where hair grows: a clean, comfortable scalp is the base of any routine.

The most common mistakes

Changing product every week without giving it time, layering too much, detangling dry, sleeping without protection, wearing tight styles for too long, rarely washing the scalp under braids. Fixing one or two habits often does more than a new product.

Building your routine step by step

A wash suited to your scalp, conditioner or mask, moisture and sealing, night protection and tension-free styles. Start simple, keep the same routine for a few weeks and change one thing at a time. Our kinky and coily hair care guide gives a starting point.

When a course becomes useful

Free guides are enough to get started. A structured course gives you a complete method and tools to assess your hair yourself, rather than isolated tips. The Ozentya Method is also for people who want to understand their own hair: 47 lessons in 7 modules, online, at your own pace, with a diagnosis form and 10 sample routines. It is taught in French.

What a course does not do

No course guarantees a specific result on growth or density: every head of hair is different. If your scalp has patches, redness, pain or heavy shedding, see a doctor or dermatologist.
